MAT GARRIOTT | HANDMADE JEWELRY
Mat Garriott places a premium on using traditional techniques to craft jewelry with silver, gold, and precious gems. He finds inspiration in the making of elegant jewelry that can be worn for a wide variety of occasions and enjoyed for many years. Mat’s timeless pieces will not be consumed by one fashion trend or another.
Based in La Pine, Oregon, Mat utilizes traditional hand-forged techniques to make his pieces. A self-taught jeweler since beginning Vagabond Silver in 2014, Mat continues to expand his repertoire, most recently by completing professional classes for stone setting (2020) at the New Approach School for Jewelers in Arrington, Tennessee.
Mat was drawn to the art of jewelry while reading a book about jewelry making when he was undergoing chemotherapy in late 2012. Once he was on the road to a healthy recovery, it became clear to Mat that his career path with a big company did not align with his updated state of mind and lifestyle. In 2015, Mat left the corporate world and stepped into the world of being a full-time maker.
In his free time, Mat works in the garden and raises chickens on the farm he has built with his wife, four dogs and cat.
